Total Lifecycle Management of Fire-Fighting Foam Waste (AFFF / PFAS)
At Diakatos Group, we offer a complete, certified, and fully traceable service chain for the direct removal, tank cleaning, secure transport, and final treatment/disposal of fire suppression materials including protein-based foams (P/FP/FFFP) and alcohol-resistant foams (AR-AFFF), often containing PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances), classified as persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
Our operations extend across Greece and the wider EU, ensuring seamless logistics and full compliance with European environmental legislation – without intermediate storage or delay.
Service Chain Overview
- Onboard Foam Removal & Sampling
- Collection of fire-fighting foam concentrate directly from vessel storage tanks
- Sampling, classification & documentation in accordance with SDS and EWC/UN codes
- Use of dedicated ADR-compliant tanks or IBCs for immediate transfer
- Tank Cleaning
- Safe entry procedures (confined space certified)
- Washing, degreasing, neutralization (if required)
- Collection and containment of cleaning slops as hazardous waste (UN3082/ Class 9)
Direct Export & Transportation
Immediate transport of foam waste to licensed EU treatment facilities.
No temporary storage material remains within sealed dedicated container/tank until delivery.
Transport under full ADR/IMDG compliance with traceable documentation.
Final Disposal & Destruction
Export to authorized EU partners for:
- High-temperature incineration (D10)
- Verified PFAS destruction efficiency (>99.999%)
- Issuance of Waste Disposal Certificate for each shipment.
Refill of New Certified Foam
Delivery and refill of IMO/SOLAS-compliant PFAS-free foam.
